JOB OVERVIEW
The Grants Writer and Researcher are responsible for searching for, drafting applications and other applicable documents, and applying to different grants and financial opportunities that the CSAWCC may be able to apply for to help support our mission and goals. The successful candidate for this role can be located remotely, anywhere in Canada.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working to stay in tune with pending and announcement of future funding opportunities
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on the specific requirements of the funding opportunities (e.g. structure of the application, content requirements, etc.)
  • Writing the grant applications, including researching facts, understanding research programs
  • Assisting with the development of grant application budgets, justification of funding requests, assessment of physical resource needs, etc.
  • Reviewing and vetting potential applications
  • Ensuring applications comply with funding agency guidelines and requirements
  • Coordinating multi-institution grant application requirements (eg. institutional letters of support, applicant CVs, etc.)
  • Ensuring grant applications address the principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in alignment with the vision of CSAWCC, best practices, and funding agency requirements
  • Leading or assisting with the management of special projects at the request of the Senior Administration
  • Participating as required in various institutional working groups and committees

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred: Post-secondary education in a field related to business, finances, nonprofit work, or two (2) years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the drafting, editing, and coordination of complex and successful research grant applications, preferably in the not-for-profit sector
  • Knowledge of the not-for-profit granting environment
  • Experience in the preparation of grant and financial applications
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain partnerships and working relationships at all levels of the organization and externally
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas
  • Ability to handle competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary team environment
